March 16, 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit Indonesia, the government
required all schools to hold independent learning activities at home to reduce
the spread of the coronavirus. Therefore, MISS students must study from home.
However, this does not make students feel bored, because even though they study
from home, they still receive guidance from the teacher through online classes
that are regularly scheduled almost every day.
Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic has a positive impact on teachers and students to update technology more. Students become familiar with some applications such as Zoom meeting, Google Meet, Moodle, Google classroom, Quizizz, and Nearpod to support their learning at home. Teachers have also become more creative in composing learning activities by making various interesting learning videos through Powtoon, Canva, Kinemaster and other applications.
MISS Elementary School students are also active in participating in various online school events, such as extracurricular activities, virtual exercises, literacy festivals, cultural day, and Ramadan activities. They are very enthusiastic about participating in these activities because they can meet friends at school even if only through a screen.
"We believe that whatever conditions the students faced while studying independently at home, will not stop them from continuing to learn and explore their best potential in the future."
